Formerly Webster School, this historic 1885 building is
now home to a fine art gallery featuring work by highly
acclaimed national and local artists. The front lawn
includes a large aviary plus a fountain stocked with
exotic Japanese koi. Open Tuesday-Friday from 9 a.m. to
5 p.m. and on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Kansas City Artists

group of over 400 artists who display in Mel's Art

Kemper Museum of
Contemporary Art and Design of Kansas City Art Institute,
4420 Warwick Blvd., (816) 561-3737. The first museum of
contemporary art and design in Kansas City and Missouri.
The permanent collection includes works by such
internationally renowned artists as Jasper Johns, Helen
Frankenthaler, Frank Stella, Robert Rauchenberg, David
Hockney, Robert Motherwell, Donald Sultan, Robert
Graham, Keith Sonnier and Deborah Butterfield. A
1,600-pound spider sculpture by Louis Bourgeois is
outside the front door. The museum presents temporary
exhibitions, performance work, film and video series and
art works using new technologies. Also an art sales

Massman Gallery,

Nelson-Atkins Museum

museum in the United States representing all areas and
periods of artistic expression, including a notable
Oriental collection with a Chinese temple room. Buffet
dining in Rozelle Court. Under way now is a
